The Social Action, Responsibility and Heroism Bill were introduced in the House of Commons of the United Kingdom on June 12th, 2014. The Bill by approval will become an act in 2015. The rationale behind the development of this bill was to ensure that people do not have to worry about being put at risk or liability when they choose to help someone. There have been concerns in the past that people might put off volunteering in activities or in interventions for emergency situations because they believe they might become liable for something. The bill is a reassurance to these people, that when they are acting for the benefit of the society, or when they are intervening for a just cause and when doing so they demonstrate that given the situation they are being generally responsible then even if something went wrong they may not be sued for negligence based on context.This assurance is also extended to include protection against being sued for their statutory duties. The context and background of their actions will be given full consideration.
