The goal of this project is to provide a design of constant pressure water supply system that can support within tall buildings, which based on the combination of PLC and VFD regulation.This report mainly introduces the basic principles and system configurations of the Constant Pressure Water Supply System and clarifies the importance of PLC in this water supply system. Secondly, the following report will illustrate the basic function process of the water system. The VFD controls of pump speed to ensure the water pressure always maintain in a regular range based on different heights and water demand, thus to solve the issue when the pressure is insufficient because of the high floor or the waste of energy in high volume due to the small flow. Furthermore, this article will explain project planning in the process of design and technology selection for the devices according to the data analysis and comparison. Water is the source of life and the human daily life is inseparable from water. SAIT is renovating its dormitory The Owasina Hall and it will be our focus goal for our water supply system design. This building has 22 floors, 83.5 -meter-high,it accommodates for 880 students[1].

Conventional urban water supply stations are normally driven by an electric motor centrifugal pump, generating pressure in the pipe for letting water flow in order to supply water to the users [2]. However, due to the high pressure requirements of top floor, when the water pressure is low, high floor residents won’t be able to use water regularly or the water break off appears, the high water pressure will result in waste of power resources. Water will firstly have restored in the reservoir, re-pressurized through the pump and then flows to users. At the same time while the water supply pump is processing, it also consumes a lot of energy, if the water supply pump efficiency could be improved to prevent high-level energy consumption while still ensuring the operation of water pump is reliable and stable, it has significant meaning in the economy and environment. So the PLC and VFD control will be applied.To achieve constant pressure water supply, a combination of inverter technology and automatic control technology will be adopted, not only it achieves significant energy savings while it improves water supply efficiency, also ensure the water system operation is more safe and reliable.
