The term open innovation was promoted by Henry Chesbrough. Open innovation is also called as external or networked innovation. It involves finding out new ideas, reducing risk, increasing efficiency and using scarce resource to its optimum value. Companies try to find out the external capabilities and combine it with the internal innovation resources to reduce the risk (Chesbrough, 2003). In today’s world, there is widely spread knowledge and huge competition, so companies cannot entirely depend on their own research and they have to take help from external sources and buy new licenses, inventions or patents.
