As the makers of this world, we are burdened with the responsibility for making the world a better place than it was when we came here. In the past century, we have witnessed amazing advancements in the fields of science and technology. We have brought the world closer through these discoveries and inventions. We undoubtedly are a global economy now. World has become a smaller place, where people from diverse backgrounds join hands for a common cause when need arises.
However, the questions that we must ask ourselves are: Are we heading in the right direction? What price have we paid for these advancements? And, have we made the world a better place for the generations to come?
Violence is on the rise, more and more people tend to violence every day. In America, alone there have been countless school shootings in the past decade. There have been countless cases of gun related violence all over the world. Gun related laws vary from country to country, for instance in the United States the laws are very loose, and people could buy guns easily without much background check or identification. On the other side, there are countries like India which have levied restriction on possession of guns. Guns are provided after thorough background checks and licenses (Kellermann, 1992). Then there are countries like China which has very strict laws and unlawful possession could is punishable from jail time to even death sentence. So, what type of law should be employed by the government – liberal like US or stringent like China?
