The course on strategic business sustainability has been a significant course as it has resulted into the enhancement of my learning with respect to different aspects related to this concept of sustainability. Sustainability management has been an important concept and this is applied across wide diversified areas. Different courses are designed across universities with a view to ensure all round development of students, and by undertaking this course in particular, I have also been able to gain insight about important ways in which sustainability can be achieved and encouraged at business places. This reflective essay is aimed at presenting my learning from undergoing this module on strategic business sustainability, and also the various types of skills that I have acquired from this course. The changes to my thinking and personal development are also discussed in detail in this reflective essay.
What I learnt
The course on strategic business sustainability has been highly beneficial to me because it has resulted into the enhancement of my knowledge and abilities to a greater level. The main learning to me initially during the course was regarding the concept of sustainability, as I had the belief initially that sustainability is a concept that is associated with responsible consumption and it mainly applies to businesses only. However, I have learned from this course that sustainability is a much broader concept as it includes responsible use of resources so that adequate resources can be made available for future generation for consumption. It is not only the businesses to which this concept of sustainability applied, but it is applied on every one and there is a need to perform all the activities in a sustainable manner (Rogers, Jalal and Boyd, 2012).
