Citavi is known to be a program for the management of reference in case of Microsoft Windows. This software had been published by the Swiss Academic Software, in the region of Wadenswil, Switzerland (Cooke 2010). This particular software is known to be spread across the region of Germany and also has received the licenses for site within a majority of German universities. Most of these universities are known for offering session of training with respect to management of files with the help of this particular software, Citavi. The core features of Citavi have been identified to be management of references, planning of tasks and organization of knowledge (Childress 2011). However, in the case of EndNote, the main features are importing references from databases available online; adding and organizing references manually within the databases of ‘library’; writing and inserting citation into the Word document being used simultaneously; and creation of bibliographies in a number of styles of bibliography
In addition to the above stated features, the software of Citavi is also known for providing the feature of online search that allows the users or professionals in order to look for catalogues and databases from within the entire programs. In the project of a team, this software package allows 20 individuals to be able to make editing in title, in a simultaneous way. Also, there consists of an online help by Citavi (Childress 2011). The online help consists of online manual, starter newsletter, forum as well as videos. The software of EndNote is not advanced enough for dealing with files that are other formats such as PDF. However, Citavi is advanced enough for managing local files in an effective manner. These local files include format of files such as PDFs. The search engine of EndNote is narrow in comparison with the search engine provided by Citavi that involves thousands of library catalogues as well as databases (Bos et al. 2010). Citavi is also known for providing add-ons or plug-ins for software of word processors which provide help to authors in inserting references from their library.
