How could this person’s needs be better catered for?
The basic needs of the employee must be met. A chair for instance, to keep him dry and warm with an umbrella like there are usually given to gatekeepers must be given to him. Also, as the safety and security needs of a person are important, so are the physiological and physical needs as well (Williams, 2000).Water is the basic need of every human being and it is said that a person can live without eating for several days but cannot survive without water for more than three days. Therefore, a water bottle or a cooler would have done just that.
Are there any strategies for helping to motivate this volunteer?
A person needs to meet his physical needs to feel satisfied at job. If the person here is allowed to go to the washroom or take washroom breaks every hour or so, he will be satisfied. The volunteer here needs to feel satisfied first to get motivated (Robbins& Coulter, 2005).Moreover, if going above the physical needs, psychological needs such as entertainment must be provided to the volunteer to keep him motivated. For instance, a CD player, an iPod, or a DVD player must have done that to keep him busy and motivated at the job. He would have listened to songs, hear radio programs and would have kept himself motivated and busy.
