The novel, ‘Pride and Prejudice’ is a story that revolves around Elizabeth who tries to get the man of her dreams linked with a number of troubles involved. The Bennett family, who is going through a calm and quiet life, tends to raise temper when they get news that a young man having good fortune, Mr. Bingley, will be shifting as their neighbour (Austin and Howard 2003). Mrs. Bennett becomes eager to this as she is willing to get one of her five daughters to marry Mr. Bingley.
Certain events and social functions take place; Mr. Bingley tends to get attracted towards Jane, the eldest sister. However, his close friend, Mr. Darcy finds himself being extremely attracted towards the charm and intelligence of Elizabeth. Friendship of Mr. Bingley and Jane continues to flourish and plans are made by both to meet up at Bingley mansion. However, problems occur when Ms. Bingley, Mr. Bingley’s sister, notices Darcy being attracted towards Elizabeth as she is willing to persuade him.
Further ahead, several incidents took place that forced Elizabeth to visit Charlotte, a close friend who is now living near the patron of Mr. Collins, who is also the aunt of Darcy. On encountering Elizabeth nearby, Darcy continues to visit the Collins’s home. They become friends going out on long walks where suddenly Darcy proposes Elizabeth. However, shocked by the proposal, Elizabeth refuses immediately stating that she finds him extremely unpleasant and arrogant. Darcy leaves her and she shortly receives a letter that contained several clarifications regarding the misunderstanding created that forced Elizabeth to refuse his proposal. The letter confuses Elizabeth and she gets bound to rethink about her feelings towards Darcy.
