The author has relied mostly on the secondary data because this research was associated with the past of the Ming culture and it has been evolved or adopted today to some extend but is not followed religiously. The author could have used some primary information in this regard to make the article more authentic and the information more reliable. Some people of that time that were involved in developing the music could have been interviewed by the author. This was difficult because most of the people of that era have died but going for a single individual in this regard could have helped the author in developing a solid base of the article. Information collected from the individual could have given more insights about the topic and interrelation between music and eroticism and how eroticism evolved in the society of that time.
The main strength of the central argument of the author is about the development and analysis of the connection between music and erotic agendas of that time. The major weakness of the central argument was about the lack of discussions over the issue of erotic preferences of that time. This element could have been discussed in detail which could have revealed the reason and preferences of the past and how eroticism became part of the culture. The point of likeness of such music was missed by the author. The author could have discussed about the root causes that were the reasons for the interconnections between eroticism and music. Cultural aspects like ethics was not discussed that could have explained about the reason why people used the agendas of eroticism in making the lyrics because of the limitations of the society for expressing their erotic ideas in public.
