From start-up establishments to large scale firms, how the companies approach change through change management or innovation is a key success factor. The innovation and change management is usually not restricted to product or process changes. Usually, innovation management includes the changes in how the organization operates and the changes in employee management etc. Mastering the management of innovation and technological change is a needed element for organizational success.

Understanding its significance, organizations usually come up with innovation strategies in order to carry out their plans. Competitive or incremental innovation, breakthrough innovation and disruptive innovation are some of the innovation types. The strategies for implementing them are built based on a proper understanding of organization strengths and assets. Given this background context, the purpose of this work is to do a comparative study of Blackberry Limited (AKA Research in Motion RIM) and Apple Inc with respect to their innovation strategies and activities.
