According to the theory established by Behemoths who travelled up to 18 miles from the place where most of the moai statues were created, it moved to the Easter Island, without the presence of any kind of wheels, cranes or even animals. In the recent times, the scientists have tried to do the research on a number of ideas from the past and have figured out that the people who are the part of the island may have used a generic combination which consisted of the leg rollers, ropes and wooden based sledges.Another theory related to the same, devised out by the group of archeologists states that the statues of Moai were created in such a manner that they were able to move. Thus, the engineering of the same was done in such a way that they were able to move easily upright by using only the rope and power. Another archaeologist Sergio Rapu has stated that the fat bellies which are there in the Moai statue has to be titled in the forward direction. Also, there were other D-shaped bases which could have allowed different handlers to roll and rock the moai from one side to another.

In the recent times, National Geographic channel has done an experiment along with Lipo (Lipo et al, 2013). They have observed that with the help of three different strong ropes and by little practice were able to successfully maneuver the statues whose length was around 10 feet and the weight was around five tons. Another theory has been forwarded by the Czech engineer Pavel who has worked closely with Norwigianm an explorer. With the help of a team consisting of 17 helpers, they were able to propel a 13 foot moai statue in the twisting motions (Julie et al, 2012). The statues were kept completely upright through this experiment. Though, during the course of the experiment, Pavel’s team had done the damage to the moai base and had to stop. Lipo has even written a book titled that “The Statues that walked.”
