In terms of social analysis, it can be said that there is an increased amount of tourists because people want to de-stress. Secondly, family holidays have increased as people want to get vacations at the same time. In terms of demographic forces, it is noticed that a growing aged population in the major amount of countries has led to an increase in the number of visitors (Dwyer et al, 2008).
Political stability is important in the context of the tourism industry because the conflicts in nearby countries could affect the tourism in Australia. Emerging global players such as Chinese and Indian growing in the geopolitical landscape could affect the tourism. The conflicts of the Middle East, the number of people that enter the country seeking political asylum would also affect tourism. Economic forces have also had a negative impact in the time of the recession but the tourism numbers are slowly gaining strength and this is good for Dreamworld (Tourism Australia, 2015)
United Nations World Tourism Organization UNWTO states that as of 2020, the number of international tourists will rise in number to about 1.6 billion, this is a positive trend for the industry, and however Australia ranks 11 in the world’s top destinations, with China, France and United States being in the top 3. The potential for growth is estimated to be high, which indicates that the overall macro-environmental effects are positive, but the industry has to rise to use this potential. A mapping between the trend and the potential shows a difference which the industry has not made use of.
