The theme of the event was a coffee industry expo. A similar event was conducted earlier the year (in 2015) by the Melbourne International Coffee Expo (MICE2015). It was conducted in Victoria and the purpose of this expo in Sydney was to recreate a similar experience. Planned as a three-day event, the works exhibited were completely about coffee. The theme was approached from different perspectives. At one end, the three days’ event was more of an exhibition where 80 Australian coffee and tea exhibitors would present their products and more for the other traders, their competitors and the consumers. At another end, the three-day event was also about fun competitions such as the Barista competition (The Coffee Experience, 2015). Here the audience would enjoy watching their favorite coffee makers compete with one another in making the best offerings.

In addition to this, there are informative elements in the event too such as that of the workshops and the talks. The purpose of the workshops is to present information for the audience and also to enable them to interact with the coffee companies of the industry. The purpose of this event is multi-fold. Primarily the event has been organized to create a general awareness on the efforts taken by different companies in the coffee industry towards making a better coffee experience for the consumer. The event ensures that the consumer becomes aware of the form of coffee trends in the industry and how different competitors present these different trends. Information about how their favourite coffee was prepared was presented to them. There were workshops conducted where in addition to tasting the coffee, the audience were allowed to interact in the actual coffee making experience too.
