The program watched was Nightly News with Brian Williams, on NBC, U.S, 6:30 pm Eastern Standard Time, dated 4th February 2015. The news cast of this TV program was vast with multicultural faces but when the show was aired, the news cast multicultural aspects were not evident because mostly those castes for the main roles were Americans such as the host Brian Williams, Andrea Mitchell who was the chief foreign affairs correspondent of the company and Anne Thompson who was also American and a correspondent at the show. The show was across U.S which was a nation promoting multi-cultural diversity (Williams, 2015). However, it will not be evident to say that there are no minority groups in TV program as on considerable research it was evident that from 2004-2995 there were some episodes that Kofi Annan (an African American) hosted as a correspondent. The show basically took those stories which moved beyond only the main headline of the show and these stories ranged from Local news, political news, health related subjects, technology, science, popular culture, business related, research’s conducted and finally sports.
Therefore the show had 9 stories and all with different subjects. The anchor team however did not reflect the community diversity served by them and minority groups were also not prominent. Minorities were however seen in certain stories such as Asian minority groups in stories related to crime and African American stories related to Sports. Minorities have generally been presented in television stereotypical roles but this show did not use any specific mug shots for suspects of any particular race (Williams, 2015). There was equality portrayed by the stories as well and the styling chosen by the anchors as well as the reporters. Weather segment in the program covered all possible regions without any speculative racism. Before the weather segment in the program was the sports news wherein several African Americans were displayed doing an excellent task at their respective games. The reporter that was Brian used not only ethically correct terms but also politically correct terms which could prevent anyone to feel threatened. Most of the news however was on subjects of terror, leadership, deadly crashes, deaths and the section on weather was limited. The other anchors associated with the TV program did not portray to be from minority groups however it was clear that each member of the crew for the program has complete knowledge of racial sensitivity.
